Ankur Debnath AKA @Doodle_Nath
Tell us a bit about yourself and how your journey as Doodlenath began.
Answer:
I've been drawing my whole life. From childhood, I’ve always been that sketchy kid in class who kept doodling — in textbooks, magazines, newspapers, anywhere I found something interesting. The interest was always there.
In 2020, I started digital art using just my phone and my finger. Curiosity drove me — I explored a new tool every day and kept experimenting with everything I saw. That’s how I slowly taught myself the fundamentals of digital art.
After saving for 1.5 years, I finally bought my first iPad. And that’s where things really began to take off.
Your style is vibrant and playful. Where do you find inspiration for your art?
Answer:
I just look around — inspiration is everywhere. There are infinite things in the world that can spark creativity. You just need to train yourself to see them through an artistic lens.
What’s a favorite project or commission you’ve worked on, and why does it stand out?
Answer:
Not a commission, but one of my favorite artworks is a fun piece I made for my brother. I mashed up moments from his wedding into a single doodle artwork. It stands out because it captures raw expressions and joy — a very personal and emotional creation.
What’s your advice for beginners interested in doodling and digital art?
Answer:
Just start. Don’t wait for the perfect gadgets. Use what you have. Practice is everything. Take inspiration from your favorite artists, observe their techniques, and try to learn from them.
You also offer tutorials and share tips online. What do you enjoy about teaching and inspiring others?
Answer:
People are eager to learn — they just don’t always know how to begin. I’ve been in that position. That’s why I share tutorials — to help make the journey easier for others.
What’s a skill or technique you’re currently focusing on improving?
Answer:
Right now, I’m working on improving my perspective drawing. That’s the skill I’m most focused on at the moment.
What's one work that you're particularly proud of?
Answer:
I’m really proud of an artwork I made last year during Durga Puja — it features Durga Ma and her family visiting Kolkata in a yellow taxi. That piece is very close to my heart.
What’s next for you in terms of projects or artistic goals?
Answer:
I’m doodling my favorite cartoons — that made me an artist!
What are your thoughts on XPPen?
Answer:
XPPen offers great gadgets for artists who want to unleash their creativity in the digital world. But what truly grabs my attention is the range of entry-level tablets you provide.
In a country like ours, budget is often a big concern. I can say from personal experience — many aspiring artists quit before they even begin, simply because they can’t afford expensive gadgets. XPPen’s budget-friendly tablets make it possible for more people to start their creative journey early, and that’s incredibly valuable.
